These videos are just blowing me away...such bravery, such deep-seated pain. I too was a victim of bullying (in junior high school)...not homophobic, but hurtful, just the same. It was terribly hard to maintain a healthy self-esteem during that period. I wish someone had told me then "it gets better."
I dare you to watch this one, by Fort Worth, Texas, city councilman Joel Burns, without crying. He even gives out his own personal contact information and encourages gay teens to call them if they need to talk to someone. Beautiful, and not what I would expect in Texas.
Then there's this one by former 'N Sync singer Lance Bass, who confesses that HE was the one doing the gay bullying:
