Indiana Republicans propose linking abortion with breast cancer

Indiana Republican state rep Eric Turner has proposed a bill that would not only ban abortion beyond 20 weeks, but it would also require physicians to tell women that the fetuses will feel pain and require them to view the fetus on the ultrasound. Furthermore, it requires that doctors must inform patients about the risks associated with abortion, including the false claim that it can increase the risk of breast cancer. In reality, the American Cancer Society and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Committee on Gynecologic Practice have rejected this theory. Hundreds of protesters showed up to rally against the proposed measure.

I find it ironic and disturbing that we are facing so many crises in social services, labor, education, and women's and children's rights...and we have a democratic president who wants to do the right thing. Very depressing.
