Listerine Oral Care Challenge, Part 2

We have concluded our Listerine Oral Challenge! Our family tested out a variety of Listerine and Reach products, including tooth brushes, floss, and mouth rinses designed for adults and children. We each took a bottle of rinse and used it for the duration. I tried out the "less-intense" mouthwash, which I really liked. The kids enjoyed the children-friendly mouthwashes, although we ended up donating the Barbie mouthwash and toothbrush because the boys wouldn't use it.The kids fought over the Batman and Phineas and Ferb mouthwash, which made it much more fun for them to rinse.

My 15-year-old, who complained about participating in the challenge, learned from his orthodontist that he's going to have to keep his braces on longer if he doesn't improve his oral hygiene. So we had perfect timing to give these products a try. It's very difficult and time consuming to get teeth cleaned with braces. (In fact, I did not get any cavities until I was 15 and had braces.)

We also tried out Reach toothbrushes and tooth floss, including this new type of waxed tooth floss, which I really liked. As I wrote before, I'm not a regular flosser, but I committed myself to flossing regularly and using the rinse. As a result, my teeth felt much cleaner and my breath definitely smelled fresher.

The children now regularly floss, as do I. This is a huge coup for our family! I'm confident that this oral care challenge will influence my family to do a better job with our oral hygiene from now on.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Listerine and received samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

  1. Wow, thank you! This is very informative. I was planning to change what I currently use because of what I've read in this article about the importance of mouthwash. Thus, not all mouthwash brands are the same quality-wise.
