Anonymous takes down hateful Westboro Baptist church web sites

The online activist group Anonymous has taken down the web sites of the Westboro Baptist Church, best known for picketing the funerals of U.S. soldiers to express their disgust with increasing acceptance of gays and lesbians in the United States. The church had been claiming that Anonymous had been threatening to take down its sites, an accusation that Anonymous denied and called a "lie and a publicity stunt."

In response, Anonymous has taken down the church's main web site, along with other sites such lovely monikers as PriestsRapeBoys.com, GodHatesAmerica.com, GodHatesTheWorld.com, JewsKilledJesus.com, and AmericaIsDoomed.com. In their place, Anonymous left a message, with the following thoughts (among others):

"For this unremitting display of overzealousness, we award you no points. Take this defacement as a simple warning: go away. The world (including Anonymous) disagrees with your hateful messages, but you have the right to voice them. This does not mean you can jump onto Anonymous for attention....

God hates fags: assumption. Anonymous hates leeches: fact.”
